The Flossbach von Storch Research Institute is an economic think-tank founded by German asset manager Flossbach von Storch AG. The institute fills a gap that has emerged between sales-driven, commercial research and pure academic research.
Prof Thomas Mayer, former Chief Economist for Deutsche Bank, is Founding Director and Head of the Institute.
Macroeconomics, Companies, Society & Finance as well as Economics, Politics & Philosophy are the four research areas of the Research Institute. In the area Macroeconomics, topics such as monetary policy, international trade, public debt and inflation are of interest. Reporting, management and pension obligations are the focus of the research in the area Companies. The area Society & Finance examines financial institutions, taking into account their interactions with social processes. The Economics, Politics & Philosophy division analyses the economic and political conditions and constellations that are relevant for sustainable development on capital markets.
