Germany is still one of the richest countries in the world. Whether it's the euro crisis, the wave of refugees, the coronavirus pandemic or the start of the war in Ukraine - the German economy is proving robust. But the boom years are over and things are continuing to go downhill. Everywhere. And this is not just to do with external crises. The economic decline and the loss of purchasing power that is affecting large sections of the German population is home-made.
